How to practice Christian Living

WHY THIS COURSE?
In recent years many Christian people have expressed a deep desire not just to think deeply about the Christian faith but also to practice it with integrity and creativity. Wrestling with complex theological issues has its place, but the best theology is that which is lived out in tangible and credible ways , reflecting the life of Jesus. Much current spirituality seems to relate more to the monastery and the desert , rather than the supermarket and the freeway . “Streams of Living Water “is a course designed to help people discover how to live Christ’s way 24.7.365 .

WHAT IS “STREAMS”?
This course begins by celebrating the deep river of divine intimacy, the powerful river of holy living , the dancing river of jubilation in the Spirit and the broad river of unconditional love for all peoples . Sadly over time the streams that flow into the Living Water of God have tended to be isolated from each other. This course aims to bring them together. If you have been frustrated by your spiritual life and wonder if real change is possible this course is designed for you. It looks at how wise people from the past and present have learned how to live a life that is centered in Christ. If you believe that the Christian gospel offers the prospect of transformation of the human personality, however hard and slow that might be, this course could provide the stimulus you are looking for.

COURSE OUTLINE
Sessions will focus on the practice of transformation, celebration , slowing , servanthood, confession , secrecy , scripture , suffering , simplicity and rest.

WHAT RESOURCES ARE USED ?
Material will be provided each week and participants will be asked to contribute $10 each towards the cost of these. Several books are highly recommended but not essential to doing the course .

WHAT DOES A CONGREGATION DO?
The course works best over a term (10 weeks). Identify and invite people from your congregation who are open to spiritual growth and formation. Encourage Elders and key leaders to profile the course in bulletins , announcements , noticeboards etc. Contact your trainer to find mutually suitable times and a place to meet. If you have more questions contact either the trainer or the Dean of the course.
