FAQ - Congregations and the Faith ALIVE Journey?

You are invited to take up the following responsibilities

a. Church Council to review their congregation’s capacity for fruitfulness and their needs for training. eg “how are we promoting faith-sharing?” “What is the effectiveness now of our current method of meeting and discipling newcomers?”

b. Aim for the congregation to host at least one workshop this year and also advertise in this congregation any workshops which are being held elsewhere so that interested people can travel to them. This includes the Synod-wide events.

c. Collect from attendees a modest course fee that shall cover costs of books, booklets, trainer’s traveling expenses etc. Course costs will vary depending on the cost of participants resources provided. See the course details.

d. Church Council to approach and personally invite those people whom they wish to participate. Printed Notices alone are not going to work well enough. Set a target that at least two thirds of the congregation should attend a course within three years. Set an example.

e. Church Council to support and encourage any courses of action that arise from the courses. Don’t let them get overcrowded by all the usual things. People need to put their learning into practice. Allow people to make some mistakes or we will never learn anything worthwhile.

f. Promote prayer and participation for the vitality of your congregation.
